Kia donates to West Point Winter Carnival

WEST POINT, GA - Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) today announced a $20,000 donation to the New Horizon Community Theatre’s capital improvement campaign, and will serve as an official sponsor of the snow tubing event at the first-ever West Point Winter Carnival on Nov. 17 at the West Point Depot in historic Downtown West Point.

West Point Lake levels continue to drop, boaters asked to use caution

WEST POINT, GA - The water level in West Point Lake is still declining because of the current drought. This has made many of the boat launch ramps unusable. Shoals, "humps", rocks, and other items normally several feet underwater are also now exposed.

Five popular boat ramps around the lake, however, will continue to remain usable even when the water level reaches elevation 622' above mean sea level as projected in the near future.

TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - It was a busy night for Troup County Sheriff's deputies.

Around 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 7 a Jeep Grand Cherokee was seen driving north on Hogansville Road with its headlights turned off. An officer tried to pull the car over, but the driver had different plans.

John boat caught in early morning storm capsizes

TROUP COUNTY, GA –  An early morning john-boat ride turned into a nightmare for two people after heavy winds sent their boat underwater.

A man and a woman took the boat out on West Point Lake in the area of Horace King Park around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when a storm passed through the area.  The storm caused the boat to take on water and strong winds eventually flipped the boat over.

“I am totally blown away,” Stone said after her tour. “I felt like a kid at Christmas. The care, time and accuracy, put into building the Kia vehicles are extremely impressive.”

WEST POINT, GA - Looking to get out on the water? The US Coast Guard is partnering with the Corps of Engineers to conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course .

You can attend the classes at the West Point Project Management Office on March 20 and 22 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm EST.

Kia Motors Georgia Team Members Benefit From Training in Korea

WEST POINT, GA - More than 160 team members with Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) have returned home after spending time training at Kia’s state-of-the-art research and development center in Namyang, Korea. 

Randy Jackson, KMMG’s Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, said that the reports that came back from Korea are extremely positive and KMMG is encouraged that so many team members took advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from experts within Kia’s worldwide organization. To date, more than 1,400 KMMG team members have trained in Korea.
