New manufacturer bringing 100 jobs to LaGrange

LAGRANGE, GA - Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Seoul, South Korea-based Daewon America will open a manufacturing facility in LaGrange in Troup County, creating 100 jobs over three years. Daewon America manufactures springs and torsion bars for the automotive industry. The company will purchase and expand an existing facility in LaGrange, investing $14 million. Daewon is one of a growing number of KIA suppliers locating in the west Georgia region near the automotive manufacturer’s Georgia operation.

Department of Labor hosting Job Expo in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA - The Georgia Department of Labor’s Columbus Career Center and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will co-sponsor a job expo for employers, veterans, wounded soldiers, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers. It will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 28-29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VFW Post 665, located at 1824 Victory Dr. in Columbus.

Gov. Deal announces new Meriwether plant with over 400 jobs

MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA - Gov. Nathan Deal today joined with county officials and company representatives in Meriwether County to announce that Seoul, South Korea-based Mando Corp. plans to open a high-tech manufacturing operation in the Meriwether County Industrial Park. The company plans to invest $200 million and create 426 jobs through opening this new facility. Mando’s Georgia plant will supply electric power steering gears and anti-lock brakes/ESC to vehicle manufacturers including Chrysler, General Motors, Hyundai and Kia, among others. This site will be Mando’s third location in the United States.

West Point, Ga. – Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) announced the completion of a railway expansion being done in conjunction with more than $100 million in expansions across the site of Kia’s first North American manufacturing facility. The railway expansion began in June.
