WEST POINT, GA - First United Methodist Church in West Point is hosting Ray Vander Laan, a bible teacher, author and guide to the Holy land! 

Seating is limited so please contact the church if you plan to attend.  There is no cost to attend.  A love offering will be taken.

Volunteers needed to check bluebird nesting through breeding season

WEST POINT, GA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project is seeking volunteers to assist with bluebird nesting box monitoring during the March to August breeding season.

Prospective volunteers should be available to inspect their assigned nesting boxes every two weeks during the breeding season. The Corps will provide data logs and maps to the locations of the assigned nesting boxes.

WEST POINT, GA - Looking to get out on the water? The US Coast Guard is partnering with the Corps of Engineers to conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course .

You can attend the classes at the West Point Project Management Office on March 20 and 22 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm EST.

Long Cane Fire Station to open Feb. 21

TROUP COUNTY, GA - Finishing touches are underway at Long Cane Fire Station #4 with grand opening ceremonies scheduled for February 21 at 11:00 a.m. The new station is adjacent to the Long Cane Middle School campus on Long Cane Road.

“This will be the first public building in Troup County to achieve LEED certification,” said County Manager Mike Dobbs. “It represents a cultural change in Troup County toward a more sustainable-built environment. As a leader in energy and environmental design, this building sets the example that others will follow for generations as we grow our culture of stewardship for a more sustainable future.”

The play focuses on a alovelorn millionaire, Oliver Stratton, who decides to embark for the solituteds of the temples of Tibet and leaves his fortune to his faithful nurse Peggy. The entire family and household is put into an uproar of plots, partnerships, betrayals, and zany ploys.
