Register for school and "Meet the Teacher"

LAGRANGE, GA - LaGrange schools have released the dates of registration and "Meet the Teacher" days.

 

            High School Registration

            9th and 12th    Grades – July 27, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.

            10th and 11th  Grades – July 28, 2011 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.

 

Go for a twilight nature walk

WEST POINT, GA - Join Naturalist, Amy Waite, on a sensory adventure exploring the nocturnal world of the forest!  Take a Twilight Nature Walk at the West Point River Park on Saturday, July 16, from 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. EDT.

West Point River Park is located off US Hwy 29, inside the city limits of West Point, just north of the city pool and tennis courts.

Parking: After entering the park, take the first left to enter the Heritage TrailParking Area.  Everyone will gather at the Pavilion.

Don't let bears ruin your holiday

SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA - Whether it is a “roughing it” summer tent camping trip or a comfy stay at a cabin in the woods, there’s always a possibility for a black bear sighting or encounter in North Georgia. With more than 75 established campgrounds and an estimated 5,100 black bears in the State, campers should always be aware and prepared for a black bear encounter. The key to preventing an unfavorable experience is to properly store food and garbage.

Boating safety course in West Point

TROUP COUNTY, GA - The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 81, in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Project Management Office on July 19 and 21 from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. The course will provide information on legal requirements, navigation rules, preventing personal watercraft and boating accidents, and new boating laws.

They will have important information regarding trusted adults, doing the right thing by avoiding peer pressure and Summer safety tips.
