Get ready to Take a Warrior Fishing | Events
WEST POINT, GA -The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting the first Georgia Take a Warrior Fishing event on Saturday, June 8, on West Point Lake.
The Catch A Special Thrill Foundation (CAST) is sponsoring this event and is asking for your support to help fund this event. Local partners for this event include the Highland Marina Resort, Martin Army Community Hospital, LaGrange Academy Service Club, Ft. Benning Wounded Warrior Association, Ft. Benning Bass Club, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and others.
This program is designed to give our wounded warriors a day of fishing and boating where they can leave their problems and concerns on the shore.
This event is so much more than simply a fishing trip for these warriors. The objective of the program is to provide an outdoor, recreational, community-based event supporting disabled/impaired armed service members, increase social interaction, encourage outdoor recreation, and support positive community activities for individuals most affected by military related injuries.
Additionally, the Take a Warrior Fishing event encourages utilizing fishing as a therapeutic element that positively contributes to a soldier’s transition back to military work or the civilian sector.
