Copper thieves from Labor Day weekend caught

TROUP COUNTY, GA - The Troup County Sheriff's Office has canceled their lookout from the Wiz Tech Copper thefts. The vehicles and suspects have been located and arrests were made. Both men were charged with theft by taking (Over $500.00), which is a felony in the Wiz Tech Copper Theft Case from Labor Day Weekend.

Dodge Avenger pulled out of West Point Lake

TROUP COUNTY, GA - The Troup County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called out to West Point Lake to check out a possibly submerged vehicle on Saturday, September 10. The vehicle was located near the Liberty Hill Access Boat Ramp.

A boater called 911 to say that he saw what looked like a submerged vehicle while he was in his boat. When the dive team got there, they recovered a newer Model Dodge Avenger about 20 yards from the shoreline. The vehicle was secured and towed safely from the lake.

Canine unit called to armed robbery scene

LAGRANGE, GA - LaGrange Police were called out to the Summit Store on Commerce Avenue around 3:00 am on Saturday, September 10. There was an armed robbery that took place at the store. The clerk told police that he was talking to a customer inside the store when an unknown black male came in the store, drew a gun, and demanded money. The suspect then took some money from the register and left the store. A LaGrange Police Department Canine team arrived and tried to track the suspect, but they couldn't find him.

TROUP COUNTY, GA - The white Ford F-250 pickup seen in surveillance video of an alleged copper theft at Wiz Tech (business) on Old Hutchinson Mill Road has been located. Troup County Sheriff's Office needs your help in locating the bronze Ford F-150 (pictured here) from that footage.

Hair Brush stolen from Dollar General

WEST POINT, GA - The Dollar General in West Point reported a theft by shoplifting on the morning of September 3. They told police that a Gold Magic hair brush was stolen. The value is approximately $2.14. The case is under investigation.

Police looking for suspects in elementary school break in

WEST POINT, GA - West Point Police are looking for help in identifying these two men who burglarized the West Point Elementary School on August 31 in the early hours of the morning. The suspects broke a window in the rear of the building to get inside.

Driver of deadly hit and run vehicle arrested

LAGRANGE, GA - An arrest has been made in a hit and run that left one man dead over the weekend. The LaGrange Police Department's Traffic Unit with assistance of the Criminal Investigations Section located the vehicle that hit Max New while riding his motor scooter on Hill Street. New died on the same day, August 26, as a result of the injuries from the crash. Once the vehicle was located, Genri “Guero” Vrizar Hidalgo, was subsequently arrested and charged with homicide by motor vehicle. He was arrested and taken to the Troup County Jail where he is being held at this time.
