Armed robbery investigation now looking for murderers

TROUP COUNTY, GA - A clerk shot during an armed robbery at Ribitz Bait and Tackle on Dec. 22 has passed away.

Sheriff Turner announced that the armed robbery investigation is now also a murder investigation.

LAGRANGE, GA - LaGrange Police responded to a report of gunshots on Handley St. Wednesday, Dec. 28 around 11:00 am. 

Officers found that one victim had been shot in the leg. He was taken to the emergency room and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

On Dec. 10, TCSO Deputies responded to a residence inside the 3500 block of Highway 54 (West), near Hogansville, in reference to a report of theft by taking.

Meth dealer busted near Hogansville

Meth dealer busted near Hogansville

TROUP COUNTY, GA - On Wednesday, Nov. 23, a search warrant was executed at 84 Old Hammett Road (near Hogansville) by Troup County Sheriff's Office after a two month-long Investigation revealed that illegal drugs were being possessed and sold from that location.

Drug Unit Agents made contact with Dale Thomas Burge, Jr. (last name pronounced “BURG”) – also known as “DJ” while executing the warrant. Burge was in the process of weighing and packaging a bag of Methamphetamine for resale from a bedroom inside the residence. Along with digital scales, plastic bags and various smoking devices and syringes were located in the home. “DJ” Burge was placed under arrest.

West Point Police solve car break in case

WEST POINT, GA - On August 31, 2011, at 6:58 a.m. the West Point Police Department received the first report of 9 vehicles being entered and approximately $4,000.00 worth of items taken, to include a handgun. The incidents occurred on Tyler Terrance, Highland Drive, Hamilton Drive, and Wisteria Drive.  The investigation revealed there were no signs of forced entry into the vehicles and they were all left unlocked.

WEST POINT, GA - The West Point Police Department, CID Division, is warning all area businesses to beware of a counterfeit check scam involving payroll checks from ITP Global Service, Inc. Counterfeiters have used technology to their advantage as they have added watermarks and utilized computers to print replicated checks from the above listed company in their latest counterfeit scam.
