Witness shot in New Year's morning gunfight | Crime

LAGRANGE, GA - One New Year's celebration got out of hand and ended with one man airlifted to Atlanta.

LaGrange police responded to the area of Merrywood Drive in response to reports of shots fired just after 2 a.m.

Officers did not find anyone shooting but were told at the same time that there was a man who was shot and that he was being taken to the emergency room by another person. 

The responded to the hospital and met with an 18 year-old who said that he was leaving a party in the 400 block of Merrywood Drive when several unknown men began shooting at each other.

The victim was shot in the exchange of gunfire and subsequently airlifted to Grady Health System in Atlanta for further treatment.
